MAMASTE BIO

Sammy is a Birth Doula, certified Yoga Teacher, and founder of Mamaste, dedicated to supporting women through pregnancy, birth and beyond. She has been practising yoga since the age of 18, and after the transformative experience of becoming a mother in 2016, her passion for supporting women through life's transitions deepened. She has studied and taught in the UK, Peru and Bali, bringing a wealth of experience and cultural insight to her work.

After leaving a demanding career in the Film & TV industry to embrace motherhood, Sammy discovered the profound impact of yoga—not only as a physical practice, but as a way of finding balance, resilience and connection through life's challenges. What began as a personal journey soon evolved into a calling to support other women with compassion, knowledge and wholehearted care.

Inspired by this path, Sammy created Mamaste, a nurturing space offering yoga, doula support, birth education, retreats, ceremonies, integrative pelvic health and holistic women's wellbeing. Her intention is to create safe, supportive spaces where women feel informed, empowered and deeply connected to themselves throughout every stage of their journey.

Sammy describes her work as a Birth Doula as her dharma—a heartfelt calling to serve. She is passionate about guiding women through the sacred transition from maidenhood into motherhood, helping them reclaim birth as a powerful rite of passage. Rather than telling women what to do, she believes in equipping them with their own toolkit of self-reliance, so they can approach pregnancy, birth and postpartum with confidence, trust and informed choice.

Whether teaching yoga, preparing couples for birth, holding space during labour, or supporting women through postpartum healing, Sammy's intention remains the same: to offer compassionate support that honours each woman's unique journey and reminds her of the strength, wisdom and power she already carries within.

What is Yoga

Yoga is a holistic practice that harmonizes the mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in ancient traditions, it combines physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation, and mindfulness to promote overall well-being. Yoga is not just about flexibility or fitness—it’s a journey of self-discovery and inner peace, helping individuals cultivate strength, balance, and clarity in their lives.

Whether practiced for relaxation, spiritual growth, or physical health, yoga offers a pathway to greater awareness and connection with oneself and the world.

What is Birth Doula

A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to expectant mothers before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Unlike medical providers, doulas focus on the mother’s comfort, empowerment, and well-being throughout the birthing process.

Doulas offer services such as:

  • Creating a birth plan tailored to the mother’s preferences.
  • Providing techniques for pain management and relaxation during labor.
  • Offering guidance and reassurance to both the mother and her family.

The goal of a doula is to ensure that the birthing experience is as positive, personalized, and empowering as possible, helping mothers feel confident and cared for every step of the way.
